Yet Another Miracle

Last summer hubs got mystifyingly ill. Although we suspected some strain of Covid, he was never tested and the doctors he saw were unwilling to make that diagnosis. Basically, he lost his appetite and generally felt awful with bouts of nausea and dizziness. He lost about thirty pounds in just a few weeks. He’s about 6’ tall and at his lowest weighed 145. Panicked, I got all the right documents signed and notarized.

Amid all this he lost his wedding ring…somewhere. We had no idea where because he wasn’t going out very much. We thought it must be in our yard, maybe when he took the dog out. Of course, when you lose something it’s a sure bet you don’t know when you lost it. You can’t remember the last time you wore it.

Hubs was very upset. Not because the ring itself was super valuable, but he’d worn it for 43+ years, so I’d say he was attached to it. And…have you seen the price of gold these days?

Our son sent us a mini metal detector and I walked around the yard with it on several occasions, praying to find that ring. We had no idea what had happened to it. It was just gone. We talked about getting hubs another ring, but decided to wait until his weight stabilized, if it was ever going to.

Today, after he got done mowing the grass he asked me when it was that he’d lost his ring. About a year ago was my guess, because if I’m not mistaken, he started getting sick last May. I said, “Why? Did you find it?”

He did! It was in a corner of the yard where there’s not much grass or anything else. I guess I never went over that area with the metal detector. The mower uncovered it lying in the dirt.

My first reaction was, “This is a miracle!”

What was lost was found.

God answers prayers in His own way and in His own time.
